Sorry to keep you faithful friends waiting so long.  Pretty soon you'll forget I even had a crush. But I'm going to hold off on this blog until after Christmas when I have more time.

So I'm a little frustrated that I can't enable the comments. I disabled them for a few days because I didn't want anyone revealing my crush before I did. So I have gone back and enabled them and they won't turn on. Any suggestions?

I know you are all dying to hear more about this dramatic story about my crush and what happened with Jen at the 10 year reunion. So stay tuned while I try and figure out how to turn the comments back on...

Here are just a few notes from my yearbook to help you feel sorry for me.

"Amanda, all I can say is AMANDA LOVES ___ ___ ___. Ha ha." That one's from Jen.

Here's another one. "Amanda, well, all I have to say is that you know you like him." That one's from Monica. Thanks Monica.

Yet another one. "Amanda, ...P.S.S. You and ___ ___ ___ would make a cute couple." That's from Holly.

"I HEART ___ ___ ___." Also from Holly.

There's more. One friend even wrote about a dream she had about us but I'll spare you the details. I'm sure you're getting the picture. Hey, at least my friends had the decency to use dash marks instead of writing out his name. How kind was that.

I think I would have been able to make some progress with the debilitating embarrassment I suffer over this crush these last few years, had it not been for an incident that took place at our ten year high school reunion. Yes, Jen was there and you know how she likes to tease...

I'll save this story for another post. It's a good one.

In the meantime, I want to hear from you. Anything embarrassing from your yearbook that you would like to share?

Today I'd like to share with you the yearbook note that inspired this blog. It was one actually written by me in my friend's yearbook. It goes something like this.

Jen, you are the biggest nerd I've ever seen.
You are so mean to me.
I can't name all the times you have embarrassed me
or made me want to commit suicide.
I love you!
Amanda

Jen is one of my very best friends to this day. But she loves to tease. And I hate to be teased. So therefore, I am a prime candidate for teasing. And in high school, I had something going on that people loved to tease me about. Especially Jen. It was a very well known fact that I had a crush on somebody. I am extremely embarrassed about it to this day. Like really freaked out embarrassed. Like didn't go to my cousin's wedding, just in case, embarrassed.

Did you have a crush on somebody in high school? Me too.

Are you kind of embarrassed about it today? Me too.

Did your cousin marry your crush's brother?

I didn't think so.

Lucky me, huh?

Lucky, lucky, lucky me.

I have such good luck.

Some yearbook notes have a tendency to dig up forgotten experiences.
Like this one from my good friend Eric.

Hi Daahhh, already off to a good start
Haven't seen you much this year but your still the same ol Amanda.
I laughed my head off when I tripped you on your face in the hall. true story.
Your cool. Lets go skinny dipping in your pool sometime. also true story.
I hear that it's a blast. yaah, i think you would know. See ya around.
Lovies, isn't that sweet?
Eric

So I take issue with this note for two reasons. I had totally forgotten about Eric tripping me until reading this brought it all back again. Oh yeah. That's right. You tripped me. You jerk. Actually, when Eric stuck his legs out, I don't think that he thought I would really trip. He looked really surprised and sad for me when I took a huge fall over his gigantic feet. So in that way, the joke was kind of on him because I rarely, if ever, saw that look of concern on his face.

Secondly, I didn't think it was very funny when Eric and some of our other friends decided to sneak into my parents pool one night and go skinny dipping. We were out of town somewhere over a weekend in the spring. I don't know why it bothered me so much when I found out, but it did. I guess I was just jealous that I wasn't in on the fun too.

Secret Lover Revealed (sort of)

Do you ever have one of those days when you just need a little cheering up?

This note from my yearbook did the trick for me today.

I can't recall another time I have ever been called the best babe. Thanks Ben.

It goes like this...

Amanda,

Hi. You know you are still my secret lover don't you?

Thanks for being my special friend.

You're the best babe.

Long live chemistry!

Ben (Shhh!)

Don't worry Ben. I won't tell anyone about us being lovers in high school. It's our little secret.

I'll start with this one from a friend named Sam S.

"Amanda, I don't understand you (yet!)
But I still love you.
Call me and we'll discuss P.O.V.s."

So who does understand me?
Uhhh....

Probably just this guy.

It's so funny to read through these notes and see how other people perceived me in H.S.

I think Sam was referring to my feminist ways. He'd have a field day with my political views.

Some things don't change and, for me, being misunderstood is still one of them.

Stay Cool and Have a Great Summer

So tonight I got out my four high school yearbooks. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. I looked at the pictures and laughed. I read through the senior quotes and laughed. I read the messages that people wrote and laughed. And then I laughed some more.
